SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The 8.8 million users of Reddit’s r/cryptocurrency community have partnered up with internet registrar Unstoppable Domains to launch the first-ever Reddit community-based blockchain Top-Level Domain (TLD), .MOON.
Built on the Polygon blockchain, .MOON will enable the crypto community members of Reddit to interact with more than 865 blockchain applications and wallets, in addition to allowing them to establish digital identities with which to do so.
MOON DAO Treasurer John Murphy said in an announcement that the creation of this new domain will allow the Reddit community to send and receive cryptocurrency assets and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) – a digital token that has a unique, one-of-one identifier differentiating it from any other blockchain token – utilizing their personal, one-of-a-kind digital profile.

The .MOON domain will be tied into Unstoppable Domains’ decentralized ecosystem and will allow users to access both apps and unique collectible badges.
Unstoppable Domains’ Chief Operating Officer, Sandy Carter, said that the establishment of .MOON will help in making r/cryptocurrency a more mainstream presence in Web3, the aspect of internet evolution that emphasizes decentralization, user ownership, and blockchain tech.
