Just 2% of Top 100 Highest Priced .xyz Domains In Use for Bonafide Services
NEW YORK, NY – According to nTLDStats.com, a data provider offering statistics for new gTLDs, the .xyz domain has the highest number of registrations out of all new gtld domains available. Looking at the highest value sold .xyz domains in all reported aftermarket sales, 98% of them are not developed or show any signs by their owners for development in the future.
Out of the 100 domains checked, just two (2) of them are developed with one (1), spring.xyz, looking like it “might” be developed soon. That is $1,532,989.00 in domain sales with $1,525,989.00 currently going to waste. In reverse prospective, out of $1,532,989.00 in domain sales, just $7,000.00 of .xyz aftermarket purchases are domains in use for Bonafide Services.

I currently hold a single .xyz domain, just for the heck of it as it is a trademark of mine. Other than that, I see no use at all for these .xyz domains and I can’t think of any reason why someone would want them. The only reason I purchased one was, and I really have no idea why, but Google felt .xyz was a good domain to launch their Alphabet company on, https://abc.xyz, which went live sometime in 2015. If I had not seen that happen, I feel confident that .xyz would have been the last gTLD I would have registered – if ever.

I suspect .xyz is going to fall the hardest of the ntlds, it is almost entirely papered over numbers, spam, 1 cent rages, barely anything genuine. I think they will strike trouble when the can no longer afford those 20 cent ICANN fees and the end up with millions of names dropping.
Drop it John. Don’t waste your money.
It’s the fastest growing G, it’ fresh and with meaning, it keeps the accepted 3 char after the dot but you will find free names for real use.
