Sedo

PALM BEACH, FL – According to the latest SEDO.com weekly domain sales report, the three letter “LLL” web address "FTP.org" just sold for $35,000.00. Other recent sales of “LLL.org” specifically with SEDO were "KDY.org" ($9,800.00) "TXR.org" ($8,800.00), "ZSP.org" ($8,800.00), and "SGB.org" ($5,500) - all recently, within the last few months. The only “LLL.org” that sold (publically) for more than "FTP.org" in 2022, was VIP.org … [Read more...]

November 15, 2022 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

Sedo

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – According to the latest SEDO.com weekly domain sales report, a single word .net domain sold for $20,000.00. The domain name is Fashion.net which has a great deal of commercial use which makes it valuable in my opinion and appears to have been undersold or sold at wholesale. The domain names Showcase.org and Explain.org were also among single word alternatives on the list. Each week, SEDO releases a list of domain names which have been sold including … [Read more...]

SEDO Weekly Sales List Includes Another Notable “LLL.org” Domain Name Sale

October 11, 2022 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

Sedo

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – According to the latest SEDO.com weekly domain sales report, the three letter “LLL” web address TXR.org just sold for $8,800.00. I've been keeping an eye on these as I have one for sale and I noticed last week another one traded hands when the domain KDY.org sold for $9,800.00. Also interesting is that the letters Q, X, Y, and Z, are generally considered value killers and both of these domains own one of them. Each week, SEDO releases a … [Read more...]

Like A Dollar And A Dream, 4-Letter Domain “NFTS.com” Sells for Cool $15 Million Dollars

August 9, 2022 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

NFTS.com

PALM BEACH, FL - A four-letter “.com” domain name has been purchased for the staggering price of $15 million dollars. NFTS.com was first registered approximately 18 years ago, likely for $10.00 or $20.00. Who knew that the letters “NFTS” would become a four-letter acronym for “non-fungible tokens,” - unique cryptographic tokens? Four letter domains, often referred to as "LLLL" domains, are relatively scarce. There are roughly 457,000 possible four-letter combinations and … [Read more...]

Hyphenated Domain Name Fetches Over $61k In Latest SEDO Weekly Sales Report

April 27, 2021 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

Sedo

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The hyphenated domain name “TN-I.com” sold at $61,990 this past week according to the latest SEDO.com weekly domain sales report. The web address is currently parked. I've always avoided hyphenated domains unless the words being used are ordinarily hyphenated or it separates two extremely popular words mostly used together. There are some instances where this works well, but with TN-I, let's just say I'm not a fan of this one. Also … [Read more...]

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The domain name “PLP.com” sold at $117,500 this week according to the latest SEDO.com weekly domain sales report. The purchase appears to be an upgrade for Cleveland, Ohio based Preformed Line Products, which is also using the single generic dictionary word domain Preformed.com. Also notable is the three letter (LLL) .org domains “JSR.org” and “NYV.org” which sold for $9,800 and 8,800 respectively. Each week, SEDO releases a list of domain names … [Read more...]

NamesCon 2019 Domain Auction Returns from Explosive Year of $2.4 Million is Sales

May 3, 2019 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

PALM BEACH – What do you do when a live and online auction produces lackluster results? Why, you re-run it again a couple of months later (Just kidding - As soon as I saw the title of the email, Back by “Popular Demand”, I thought, yea right – but NUMBERS my friends, do not lie, and those numbers show that Domaining, is indeed very much alive and well; at least at NamesCon it is.) Yesterday, NameJet.com and RightOfTheDot.com announced via email and a formal press release … [Read more...]

April 6, 2019 By John Colascione 9 Comments

WEST PALM BEACH - If you ever wanted to get yourself a nice flashy city, state or regional exact match GEO domain, right now seems like a good time to take notice of your surroundings. GEO, or geographic domain names are web addresses which are exact match spellings of specific places. "Premium" GEO domains would be considered either entire countries, states or major cities (ending in a .com), and there are a growing number of premium geographic domain names which are … [Read more...]

Near $200,000 Missing from “Ordinary” Domain Sales Market, So Far This Year

March 3, 2019 By John Colascione 4 Comments

NEW YORK – There is an old saying “Follow the Money”, popularized by the 1976 drama-documentary motion picture “All the President's Men” which was about the Watergate scandal (I’ve yet to see the movie, but plan to). However, in this case, I prefer not to follow the money, because it looks like it's disappearing into a region of space-time; one exhibiting strong gravitational effects that nothing - not even particles and electromagnetic radiation such as light can escape … [Read more...]

A Domain Resellers Best Benefit Might Be In Domain “Savings”, Not Sales “Revenue”

February 26, 2019 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

NEW YORK, NY – In early 2005 I became a reseller for Wild West Domains Inc., a subsidiary of the GoDaddy, signing up for their Reseller opportunity, and at that time, their “Super Reseller” opportunity. The difference between the two was that the Super Reseller provided the ability to “resell” the “reseller” opportunity and put companies underneath you, earning a small portion of your acquired re-sellers sales, sort of like a sub-affiliate or MLM (multi-level-marketing) … [Read more...]

Quick Glimpse Inside NamesCon Global 2019 at the Tropicana, in Las Vegas

January 29, 2019 By John Colascione 1 Comment

LAS VEGAS, NV – NamesCon Global 2019 is well underway with just one day remaining. While here since Sunday I’ve had just enough time to visit a few panels and keynotes of choice, all of which were great and well worth attending as listening and learning, if it creates just one new idea or new potential, can help steer direction in one’s career; not to mention all of the great networking opportunities the event provides while keeping your current industry relationships alive. … [Read more...]

SHERPA: “Wow, So This Is, Really, Maybe, It Would Be Fair to Say, The Biggest Auction The Domain Industry Has Ever Seen?”

January 21, 2019 By John Colascione Leave a Comment

NEW YORK, NY - I took the time to watch another Domain Sherpa show today - this one called "Domain Handcapping" since it was related to the upcoming NamesCon show next week from January 26, to January 30, 2019 - including “the main event” – the live auction which is held once a year. I’m very much looking forward to attending this year and I will certainly sit in on it and maybe even purchase something, so I wanted to hear what Monte Cahn and Drew Rosener had to say about … [Read more...]

Top 100 .com Domain Name Sales of 2016 Verses 2017 Suggests Market Stabilization

June 23, 2018 By John Colascione 1 Comment

NEW YORK, NY - Last year about this time (June) I compared the highest valued .com sales of 2015 to 2016 which were publicly available at that time via NameBio.com (the list changed slightly today effectively creating a $2M difference and 30% decline rather than 35% indicated at that time[provided that 2015 remained unchanged]). It's also important to note that 2015 contained two blockbuster sales for $8M each. Today, comparing numbers for 2016 to 2017, from what data is … [Read more...]
