Near 16,000 Bets Placed on Newer “.Art” gTLD Domain Name So Far This Year

*** Here Is A List Of Some Of The Best Domain Name Resources Available ***

NEW YORK, NY – On May 10th, 2017 during general availability I registered two .art domain names; the cost? That is simple: $24.57. The reason? That’s not as clear as I only have a handful of gTLDS. I guess I was trying to do what most domainers do when they happen to remember a new domain name is being released and it also happens to be general availability time – get the jump on others and grab some good ones to resell in the future.

The two domains I registered were FreeAppraisals.art and its non-plural version FreeAppraisal.art. They are currently both for sale if anyone wants them. (I will now wait for the flurry of inquires from interested parties wanting to purchase them 🙂 ).

Since I noticed an article today at DomainNameWire.com which was discussing the .art domain name I wanted to see where it has come in its short life span. .Art domains became available to register at a premium on February 8th, 2017. Thus far, according to nGTLDstats.com, there are over 15,881 domains registered. Not surprisingly, GoDaddy holds the largest registrations for a single registry.

I like to use the analogy that every domain name you register is like a little (or sometimes big) lotto ticket, sometimes they will hit and sometimes they will not. The more lotto tickets you have, the more likely you are to win something, but holding too many loosing tickets will cost you. So you have to hold a good balance of winners to make it worthwhile.

I was telling someone recently that I remember the days when you could purchase a domain name on a forum, and then switch forums and resell the domain name, often the same day, for a nice profit. Many of my readers know that those days are long gone. The forums are filled with mostly junk domains now, and you’ll find lots of people selling while few are buying. It seems the only domains that sell now are domains which are well below even wholesale or domains with a built in working revenue stream attached to them, and who wants to sell one of those?

Do you have any .art domain names? Feel free to show them off in comments section below.
