‘TM.com’ up for sale – The domain name ‘tm.com’, previously used by a company called TM Advertising, is up for sale. A representative for the current domain owner told WTR that the domain could be a valuable asset for anyone in the IP space. “I can’t think of a better opportunity for a trademark law firm to have the most obvious trademark related domain name there is,” he said. “We are looking to sell the domain quickly.” The domain brokerage is being handled by VIP Brokerage, with interested buyers needing to stump up a minimum offer of $1 million. Seemingly a good fit for an industry trade publication such as “Word Trademark Review”, if you haven’t yet put 2-and-2 together, the letters “TM” are an abbreviation for the term “Trademark”, however, they’re also an abbreviation for Toyota Motors, T-Mobile and a slew of other companies which could benefit from owning the name. Such a buyer would add themselves to the group of “big brands” who own two letter domains such as American Airlines, Barnes & Noble, Calvin Klein, General Motors, etc.
