NEW YORK, NY – Getting your hands on a three (3) letter .com domain name can be a life changing event for most. These short .com domain names are in high demand in just about all areas of the world. They are often referred to as “Liquid Domains”, domain names which possess instant market liquidity (the ability to sell quickly without having to reduce price).

Below is a brief look at what 3 letter .com domain names sold over the last five to six years, who is using them and in what industry they were acquired for.

Also worth noting was that while building the list I noticed a great deal of them are owned or held by individuals or companies in China. The two largest sales were in 2014 with QNB.com and BTC.com both trading hands for a million dollars each and both being in the Financial industry. So if you are sitting on a few three letter .com domain names, congratulations, you’re likely sitting on a great deal of cash.

Examining the list you will notice that the majority of domain names are currently in use by end-users with roughly 32% of names not being used (either parked or unresolved).

I’d think the more appropriate term for your article would be to refer to your examples as ‘3 letter’ domains as opposed to ‘3 characters’, as numbers and dashes are considered as ‘characters’, which can thus mislead others to feel they are inclusive in the rarity of, value of, and demand for. …just sayin..
